I'd like to mine domane ore at the Royal Company Mine but I'm stuck on how to raise my cave to 40. Is there an area I can train in? Garun'gol will only get me to 30...

Do you have a Varanus and what about clothing (huberian outfit should suffice), jewlry? It's also possible to use a pot for the last few points... If you want to level your char, you should visit the Den (some help A path to the Den)

The Den or a tunnel in the Lower Depths. Recommends the former.

Alternatively:
- 41.6 Cave Huberian set (Short Shirt, Short Cape, Faulds, Short Tabard, and Pants).
- 30 Varanus
- 30 personal
- 4.0 necklace. (Minimal Obsidian. Consider Quartz or Phoenix Eye too.)
- 4.4 potion. (Drops from monsters sometimes.)

(41.6 * .4) + (30 * .3) + (30* .2) + 4 + 4.4 = 40.04.

Skills up from mining after that. Lowers potion requirements. Could also construct a personal mine too.

I need to raise my combat I think before I can get to the Den. That's my goal though. I keep getting mutilated though by enemies.

If you have a varanus, that should be enough to get you enough cave - if you don't, that's your goal. Standard way to raise cave enough to get the varanus (at least when I did it) is to try to get a fight in the waterfall tile of Garrun'gol (one of the two where you can extract sandstone) with one of the little bugs and just defend forever while it attacks you.
